Kim is back!

One of my quilty pleasures is bingewatching series on Netflix on a rainy day. Love it! HomelandBloodlineFargo... I can't get enough of it. Years ago - in the pre-Netflix era -my favorite serie used to be Sex & the City. The sexy Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) was my favorite character.

Imagine how happy I was when I heard that Kim Cattrall (59) is back in the new hit series Sensitive Skin on - yes, indeed - Netflix. That joy, however, was only of short duration. In theNetherlands is Sensitive Skin not available on Netflix! ... (please, insert here a curse word of your choice)

Sensitive Skin fits in perfectly with the theme of this blog. Former model Davina Jackson (Kim Cattrall) is trying to survive the menopause and Hollywood, that's just fixated on youth and beauty. With black humor and self-mockery shows Kim Cattrall with which prejudices women over 45 years have to deal. Cattrall produced the series and, of course, she plays the lead role. The series is based on the BBC series Sensitive Skin (2006) with Joanna Lumley (yes, that other stunner: Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous) in the lead role.

For her role in Sensitive Skin Kim Cattrall refused to hide her wrinkles. She plays a woman of a "certain age" and this includes wrinkles according to her. Aging also means that you become wiser, she says in interviews. Therefore Cattrall doesn't desire to be young again. She finds life more fun now that she is older, as long as she feels young. That works for her by following her instincts and do what makes her happy.

Amen!

The series has been nominated for an International Emmy in the category 'best comedy series' and even started with the second season.

So dear Netflix, come on and give us Kim back!

Melody of aging

Last week I went to a ballet performance. I then realized that I do this far too little. If I have to name one good intention for 2016, then it is that I will go more often to a dance performance.

By this performance I came also to the question whether the aging process can be displayed in a ballet performance. That turns out to be possible... and how. I came off at 'The melody of Aging' of Ish Ait Hamou and Fabrice Nsalambi. In this performance makes an 80 year old couple their last dance. The dance carries them back to their youth and the different stages in their lives.

The video 'The melody of aging' can be found HERE.

Note also the great sets, the styling and the beautiful music ('Bird gerhl' by Antony and The Johnsons).

Listen, watch and enjoy.

Marc & Bette

At Sarah's Secrets Unveiled  we are always very pleased when designers opt for older models to show their collections. Marc Jacobs managed to surprise us before with his choice for Cher (69) for his FW 2015 campaign. And also in this - new - year, Jacobs doesn't disappoint us. Yesterday he posted the above photo (by David Sims) on Instagram. Thus he announced that Bette Midler (70) can be seen in his SS 2016 campaign.

On instagram let Marc Jacobs know: 'What a privilege it is to know your heroes. 'The 'Divine Miss M' as he calls her in the caption, would already have inspired him as a ten year old boy for one of his first fashion creations.

Bette Midler also announced yesterday the news to on Twitter:

In any case, it is nice to Miss M to follow on Twitter . Her tweets are often funny:
Sometimes venomous:
And she is definitely not afraid to make a statement:
Monday 11 January she tweeted about David Bowie:

On Twitter Bette Midler proves time and again that with her seventy years she's still fresh, sparkling and 'devine' like never before. Just as in the picture above. Marc Jacobs did a good job.

Finally, one tweet because this is so funny:

Nice weekend!

No regrets

Drink less? Quit smoking? Lose a few kilos? More sports? A new year often means new resolutions. Good intentions, which often fall soon... unfortunately.

Sarah's secrets unveiled therefore wants to encourage you to have a good start in 2016. You can ask yourself if you're really happy if you weigh that few kilos less. Therefore pay attention on the things that are really significant to change and that can make you a happier person.

Below is a list of things that older people say that they would do this differently if they were young again. View this list, who knows that you see things that you can (still) change immediately.

If older people are asked what they - with the knowledge of now - would do differently, they would:

  • Take more risks
  • Care less about what other people think
  • Take better care of the health
  • Have more trust in intuition
  • Live more in the moment
  • Worry less
  • Follow the passion in life
  • Spend more time with family and friends
  • Nothing postponing 'until tomorrow'
  • Being satisfied with what there is

In the video below you will find a nice collection of 10 things you'll regret in old age. They  are very recognizable, but unfortunately not all still to change.

Have a great year.

HAPPY 2016!
